Serious Strategies for Weight Loss

New You ProgramMany people coping with overweight or obesity have tried diet after diet without success. There’s comprehensive help at Lehigh Valley Hospital and Health Network:
  • The NEW You (Nutrition, Exercise and Weight management). This new program offers medical care from Theresa Piotrowski, M.D., a bariatrician (specialist in obesity treatment), including nutrition, exercise, counseling and medications when needed. The hospital also provides weight-loss surgery (see next page) with pre- and post-surgery education, counseling and support groups. Community weight-loss programs are under development.
  • Helwig Health and Diabetes Center runs classes and support groups in several locations for patients and their families. Classes are taught by certified diabetes educators, health professionals with advanced expertise in this specialty.
  • Dr. Dean Ornish Program and Ornish Advantage are programs aimed at preventing or reversing heart disease through nutrition, exercise, stress management and group support.
  • Culture of Wellness offers nutrition services including one-on-one counseling, metabolism measurement and food diary analysis.
  • Many fitness classes are available for all ages and levels, from lap swimming to belly dancing to FlashFit circuit training.
